How long is the online defensive driving course?
The online course is 6 hours long.
After I complete the course, how do I receive the discount on my insurance?
Once you have completed the defensive driving course, you will be mailed your course completion certificate. Present this certificate to your insurance company to have the discount applied to your policy.
How much is the insurance discount?
The New York Defensive Driving Course provides a guaranteed 10% reduction on the base rate of your liability and collision coverages. This discount last for 3 years.
Is your course New York DMV approved?
Yes! Our course is provided by I Drive Safely and has been approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
After I complete the Defensive Driving Course, how do I receive the point reduction?
I Drive Safely will directly notify the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV will then update your driving record.
How may points will be removed from my record?
Four points will be removed from the accumulated points you currently have on your license.
I don't have any points on my license, can I use the point reduction for tickets I might get in the future?
No. The point reduction does not apply to future violations. The point reduction is only applied to tickets received prior to completing the course.
